Welcome to the Guidance & Counselling Department of Scoil Phobail Bheara, Castletownbere, Co.Cork.
The Guidance Counsellor is an integral part of the pastoral care system in the school and the Guidance & Counselling Department aims to meet the personal, educational and vocational/career needs of students as they arise.
Guidance is offered as a whole school activity by all staff. The guidance service offered to students and parents begins before students enter the school as part of the Induction Programme for incoming 1st year students. The service continues throughout the journey that students take up to 6th year, while in our care.
- Guidance is provided to students that require personal support at various times during their time in school.
- Guidance is offered to students through educational support such as study skills, motivation, setting goals.
Guidance Counselling is viewed as a process - not as an event- which begins with the students' entry into first year and continues right thoughout the six years spent in Scoil Phobail Bheara .
- Guidance is provided to students through vocational support as the provision of information sessions about senior cycle options, subject choice and progression routes after the Leaving Certificate.
