The role of the Guidance Department in Coláiste Chill Mhantáin:

There are two guidance counsellors employed in Colaiste Chill Mhantain: Irene Doyle - Employed fulltime in the area of 'Guidance' & Leanne Bambrick - Employed fulltime (teaching Spanish / SPHE / Yoga) and who also works in the guidance dept part-time.

Both guidance counsellors are fully accredited members of the IGC (Institute of guidance counsellors) and work under the guidelines of the IGC Code of Ethics (Please reference the following link to view the IGC Code of Ethics: http://www.igc.ie/Code-of-Ethics). Both of the CCM guidance counsellors work with students, as individuals and in groups, to whom they provide guidance and assistance in the areas of educational, vocational and personal/social development. How to contact the Guidance Department in Coláiste Chill Mhantáin:

Students Options - Students have 2 options:

Option 1: During school hours, students can go to the office door of the relevant guidance counsellor that they wish to speak with (Irene Doyle Office F41 / Leanne Bambrick Office F04), knock on the door, and if the guidance counsellor is there, and not in class, the student will be informed of a day and time that they can meet with that guidance counsellor.

Option 2: Using the students school IPad and the students school e-mail address, the student can e-mail the respective guidance counsellor and request a meeting - NB: In the e-mail it is recommended that the student suggest a time and date that an appointment would suit them best. NB: The student will receive a reply e-mail back from the guidance counsellor within 24 hours, confirming an appointment with the student. (NB: The relevant e-mail addresses are highlighted below)

Parents Options:

Parents can contact the guidance counsellors directly by phoning the school on 0404 - 61863 and requesting to speak with a member of the guidance dept. or alternatively parents can e-mail the guidance counsellors on the e-mails presented below. NB: Due to the nature of the job whereby the guidance counsellors can be in class and in scheduled appointments, the quickest way to speak with a member of the guidance dept. is to e-mail them directly, and you will receive a call back within 24 hours, or quicker if the matter is more urgent - If e-mailing, please give a brief outline of the issue and the best time to make contact with you so that the guidance counsellor can plan for this.
