Realist

Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

General
Linguistic types enjoy work involving the creation and exchange of information through writing, electronic media or the spoken word. These people prefer unstructured environments where there is time to use their imagination to compose their words and thoughts, and time to express and communicate what they feel.

Interests
The Linguistic's interests are usually focused on ideas and information exchange. They tend to like reading a lot, and enjoy discussion about what has been said. Some will want to write about their own ideas and may follow a path towards journalism, or story writing or editing. Others will develop skills in other languages, perhaps finding work as a translator or interpreter. Most Linguistic types will enjoy the opportunity to teach or instruct people in a topic they are interested in.

Linguistic activities include writing and reworking text to make it more presentable to certain audiences (e.g. Editor, Technical Writer), evaluating and assessing documents (e.g. Critic, Script Writer), exploring alternative media to express and present ideas (e.g. Media Executive, Multimedia Writer), creative writing (e.g. Author), translation of written or spoken material, creative expression of a script (e.g in Drama, Acting), and skilled wording of material for persuasive, technical or entertainment purposes (e.g. Lawyer, Radio & TV Presenter).
