You would need to to be patient, have perseverance and have good people skills.

The Social person's interests focus on some aspect of those people in their environment. In all cases the social person enjoys the personal contact of other people in preference to the impersonal dealings with things, data and ideas found in other groups.

Many will seek out positions where there is direct contact with the public in some advisory role, whether a receptionist or a counsellor. Social people are motivated by an interest in different types of people, and like diversity in their work environments. Many are drawn towards careers in the caring professions and social welfare area, whilst others prefer teaching and other 'informing' roles.

I regard walking around in steel toe boots, high-vis jacket and hard hat in all kinds of weather as cool.

Although the weather can be terrible sometimes, it is great to get so much fresh air and exercise from walking around.

The job can be as hands-on as an engineer wants it to be. Its great to be able to balance the hands-on with the computer work.

Whats best about the job is the freedom to make decisions as time goes by. More responsibility is given to engineers over the months and years and, while there is always a wealth of knowledge to fall back on and a multitude of people to ask advice from, it is very satisfying to be given the freedom to make alot of decisions freely at a young age.

The day is generally not structured by one's boss but rather the decision is left to the engineer as to how they spend their time, as long as all the work gets done that is required.
