Consider your options carefully. It is likely that you are expecting top grades in your Leaving Certificate if you are considering pharmacy as a career so there will be plenty of doors open to you. Make sure you do plenty of work experience in different areas of pharmacy and if it is healthcare you are interested in then consider getting some work experience in medicine etc. I know quite a few people who have completed a pharmacy degree only to realise they actually want to do medicine!

Realist?
Realist
Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

4,738 offers issued in CAO Round Zero

Offers issued to Mature, Access, FETAC, Graduate Medicine and Deferred entry applicants ahead of CAO Round One

4,738 offers issued in CAO Round Zero

A total of 4,738 offers have been issued by CAO today (2 August) to 3,909 applicants.

The offers will be available to view online from 6am (on 2 August). Successful applicants will also receive a paper offer notice by post, email and a text message (if they have selected this option) with details of their offer.

Round Zero offers concern applicants who are not competing with those awaiting 2018 Leaving Certificate examination results, or who are assessed on other criteria. The applicants who fall into this category include graduate entry medicine applicants, additional mature applicants, deferred and Access applicants, and applicants presenting QQI FET/FETAC qualifications for consideration for entry to courses with a quota for QQI FET applicants.

This year there were 3,127 Level 8 offers and 1,611 Level 7/6 offers issued in Round Zero.

The reply date by which applicants must accept their offer is 9 August at 5:15pm.

Speaking about the offer process, CAO communications officer Eileen Keleghan commented; “We urge all mature, deferred, and other applicants to log in to their CAO accounts today to check if they have received a Round Zero offer.

“QQI FET/FETAC applicants who applied for a course with a quota for QQI FET applicants should also check their account.

“Offers must be accepted by 5:15pm on Thursday next, 9 August. Failure to accept an offer by the reply date will result in the offer being cancelled” she added.

To date, a total of 12,120 offers have been issued by CAO in Round A and Round Zero to a total of 9,787 applicants.

For all other successful applicants, Round One offers will be issued on Monday, 20 August. Round One offers will be available to view online from 6am on 20 August, and successful applicants will also receive offer notification by email and text message if they have selected this option, as well as by post.

The reply date for Round One offers is 24 August at 5:15 pm.

Round Two offers will be available to view online from 29 August at 10am.
