Careers rarely develop the way we plan them. Our career path often takes many twists and turns, with particular events, choices and people influencing our direction.

Go for it!  But realise that its not going to be easy and things take time and there are LOTS of sacrifices to make. Also make sure you learn from your mistakes - because you will make them. It is really only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Social
The Social person's interests focus on some aspect of those people in their environment. In all cases the social person enjoys the personal contact of other people in preference to the impersonal dealings with things, data and ideas found in other groups.

Many will seek out positions where there is direct contact with the public in some advisory role, whether a receptionist or a counsellor. Social people are motivated by an interest in different types of people, and like diversity in their work environments. Many are drawn towards careers in the caring professions and social welfare area, whilst others prefer teaching and other 'informing' roles.

Career Options Castlebar Event

In partnership with The Education Working Group of Mayo County Council and the North East LEADER Partnership Co., Davitt College is organising its annual Career Options Event in Davitt College, Castlebar on Saturday 14h October 2017.

The event will run from 12p.m. until 4.00p.m. Admission is free.

Mr. Brian Mooney (Guidance Counsellor and Educational Columnist/Analyst with the Irish Times) is guest speaker at the annual Career Options Event. 

"Students and their parents will also have easy access to information on grants, scholarships and bursaries available to students progressing to Third Level, together with important advice on applying to CAO, UCAS and SUSI"
