Johnson & Johnson Vision Announces Approximately 100 Jobs and Expansion for Limerick Facility
Roughly €100 million expansion will lead to approx. 100 new jobs, with about 200 temporarily created during construction phase.
The development will benefit the economy of the region immensely, with Pat Breen TD, Miniter of State for Trade, Employment & Business, labelling the expansion as a "huge vote of confidence in the Mid-West region." The development will see the expansion of what is already the world's largest contact lenses manufacturing plant. Martin Shanahan, CEO of IDA Ireland, has expressed that having a company of Johnson & Johnson's stature make such a commitment to the Limerick region speaks to a bright future for the medical technology industry in the country. He added that it also serves as a testament to the success global companies can achieve in regional locations.
John Lynch, Plant Leader, is confident that the new manufacturing roles, which will be introduced from 2019, will help the company to "bring new, innovative contact lens products to our patients and customers around the world at an industry-leading pace."
