What are your interests?

Social?

Social

The Social person's interests focus on interacting with the people in their environment. In all cases, the Social person enjoys the personal contact with other people in preference to the impersonal dealings with things, data and ideas found in other groups.

Many will seek out positions where there is direct contact with the public in some advisory role, whether a receptionist or a counsellor. Social people are motivated by an interest in different types of people and like diversity in their work environments. Many are drawn towards careers in the caring professions and social welfare area, whilst others prefer teaching and other 'informing' roles.

New Language Filter for CourseFinder

CareersPortal has teamed up with Languages Connect to help you find the language course to suit you

New Language Filter for CourseFinder

CareersPortal has teamed up with Languages Connect to assist you in exploring your modern foreign language study options in higher level education. We are delighted to unveil a Beta Version of the new language filter today through the CourseFinder search engine on www.careersportal.ie . This is a great opportunity to make sure your CAO choices include courses which support the study of language at either Major, Minor or even at an Elective level. You will be surprised at how many courses give you this option. Keeping up your language skills while studying in college will be a major advantage in your future career.

The new filter allows you to select one or several modern foreign languages you are interested in studying and browse the courses where this language is a key component of the curriculum. Details will be available on whether this language is available as a Major, Minor or Elective element of the course.

The filter will narrow down the number of courses on view and help to match your language interests with relevant study programmes. You can even refine your search to show all courses offering the language component as a major award.

The new filter will enable you to search a wide range of courses featuring the following languages: Arabic, Catalan, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish. It will also highlight if the course offers you the option of studying abroad. Studying abroad can be a great way to improve your language skills and experience a new culture, but it can require a lot of forward planning, so it is best to know if your course has this option well in advance.

If you are considering studying languages, then it is worth remembering that graduates with language skills are highly sought after by employers. Various organisations, including multinational companies, government bodies and international institutions frequently recruit for modern language speakers, so it's a very attractive skill to possess. From employment prospects to travel opportunities, there are a number of benefits to studying languages and Languages Connect has outlined a lot of the advantages HERE.
