Creative people are drawn to careers and activities that enable them to take responsibility for the design, layout or sensory impact of something (visual, auditory etc). They may be atrracted to the traditional artistic pursuits such as painting, sculpture, singing, or music. Or they may show more interest in design activities, such as architecture, animation, or craft areas, such as pottery and ceramics.

Creative people use their personal understanding of people and the world they live in to guide their work. Creative people like to work in unstructured workplaces, enjoy taking risks and prefer a minimum of routine.

Career Skills Competition Deadline Is This Friday
The deadline for the 2019 National Career Skills Competition is fast-approaching and there are just three days left to send in your entries. To be in with a chance of winning fantastic prizes, all that you have to do is tell us about work experience you've taken part in! 

To be eligible to enter, you have to have completed a work experience placement and you must be part of one of the following groups:

Second-level students have the opportunity to enter the competition in English or Irish. Remember if you enter in Irish you will have less competition, so use your language skills to your advantage!

Prizes



We are giving away superb prizes for the top three entries in each category (TY, Leaving Cert (Incl. LCA and LCVP), Best Entry As Gaeilge, and Best Adult Entry).

The winner of each category receives the amazing GoPro Hero 6, with Dr Dre Beats for each 2nd Place and Creative Bluetooth Speaker for each 3rd Place.

In addition, the school of the winning student from each category will receive a cash prize of €1,000 for the relevant programme.

The National Career Skills Award Ceremony 2019 will take place on the 8th May at the Department of Education & Skills. The winning students and their parents will be invited to attend the prize giving ceremony.


How to Enter

Competition Entries can be made online, by e-mail or by post.

Send your email entry to careerskills@careersportal.ie. Make sure you send this in an accessible format (e.g. Word doc, PDF etc.)

Online Entries 
Online entry is accessible to students who register with CareersPortal.ie (click on the 'Sign Up' link at the top of every page).
