Reddit to create 25 jobs at new Dublin office

Reddit, the online discussion forum, has announced today that it is set to open its first international office in Dublin. The expansion will see the creation of 25 jobs intially, with potential for further job creation, as the company lays down its roots in Ireland's capital city.

The company joins a long list of businesses in the online or technological sectors that have chosen Dublin as a starting point for expanding their business on an international scale. On Reddit's blog, the company attributed the choice of location to the fact that "Ireland, and Dublin specifically, is a hub of engineering and product talent that is well suited for the teams we will expand." Aforementioned teams include Reddit's Anti-Evil, Security, Community and Engineering Teams.

Martin Shanahan, CEO of IDA Ireland, welcomed the news that Reddit had chosen Dublin as its first international location. He reaffirmed Dublin's place as "an established tech hub" and stated that "high-profile" company Reddit was attraced to the city due to "the wealth of expertise available here."

Reddit will move into new office space in Dublin 2, overlooking Stephen's Green, which will soon been inhabited by new recruits for the teams mentioned above. The roles will cover a range of responsibilities including "core product development, site and user account security, and engineering solutions to detect and prevent policy-brekaing content."
