Combilift, the Monaghan based forklift manufacturer has announced that it has increased its workforce by 100 in the past year.
Combilift which celebrates 21 years in operation this year currently employs 650 people at its Global Headquarters and manufacturing facility in Monaghan, an increase of 100 since the facility was officially opened in May 2018.
Established in 1998, it currently exports 98% of its products to 85 countries through its 250-strong international dealer network. Combilift has more than doubled in the last 5 years and now has 45,000 units in operation globally.
The new roles include skilled technicians, design engineers, logistics and supply chain specialists and those with mechanical and electrical mechatronics skills.
Martin McVicar says that the additional employees are part of a strong recruitment drive by the company which will enable Combilift to meet its ambitious growth plans. “We have employed an additional 100 people since we moved into the new factory in 2018. The increase in numbers employed as well as the new facility has meant that we were able to grow our production to 6,000 units in 2018 and we are on target to exceed that in 2019.”
The company also announced that recruitment for its Traineeship in Engineering is also ahead of target. “As a company we have engaged locally with education and training providers to build a talent pool of young people through the Engineering Traineeship course at Monaghan Institute and our involvement in the development of the OEM Engineering Apprenticeship.
The Combilift Traineeship gives students the opportunity to develop cutting edge engineering skills and gain on the job experience while training. It also allows companies like Combilift to grow by creating a pipeline of well-trained employees. All those who successfully complete the Engineering Traineeship are interviewed for full-time positions in Combilift. Recruitment for places on the course for 2019 is ahead of target with the closing date for first round applications in June.”
