What are your interests?

The Social person's interests focus on interacting with the people in their environment. In all cases, the Social person enjoys the personal contact with other people in preference to the impersonal dealings with things, data and ideas found in other groups.

Many will seek out positions where there is direct contact with the public in some advisory role, whether a receptionist or a counsellor. Social people are motivated by an interest in different types of people and like diversity in their work environments. Many are drawn towards careers in the caring professions and social welfare area, whilst others prefer teaching and other 'informing' roles.

Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) - the centralised grant application scheme for third-level students will have its priority closing date for new applications on Thursday the 11th of July.

SUSI wishes to remind students who are planning on starting college this September that the priority closing date for new applications for third-level grants is tomorrow, Thursday the 11th of July. The sooner you apply for a grant and provide SUSI with all relevant documentation, the sooner you will know the outcome of your application.

IMPORTANT: As a new grant applicant, you do not need to have accepted a place on a college course in order to apply for a grant. You can do this later in the process.

Any student who thinks they might be eligible for a SUSI grant is urged to submit their application online to SUSI as soon as possible, to ensure that it is processed as quickly as possible. Click to check your eligibility using SUSI's Eligibility Reckoner

What types of grants are there?

There are two parts to the student grant:

Fee Grant- the full fee grant is worth up to €6,270 towards the cost of tuition fees, compulsory field-trip expenses and the student contribution charge. The fee grant is available to both eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Students may qualify for both the fee grant and the maintenance grant.

See a full breakdown of the grant levels here.

Note: Grant applications are processed in the order in which they are received, so the earlier you apply and get any supporting documents required submitted to SUSI, the earlier you will have a response on the outcome of your application. If you are in the position to apply for the SUSI grant today, then it is advisable to do so before tomorrow's deadline to ensure that it is given priority when being processed.
