160 places available on Accounting Technician Apprenticeship Programme

Would you like to earn a Level 6 QQI qualification in accounting through a work-based study programme? The Accounting Technician Apprenticeship gives you the chance to jump straight into a new job in a new workplace, where you get paid at least €19k a year and enjoy fully funded tuition. Through this apprenticeship you can become an experienced member of Accounting Technicians Ireland in just two years.

Accounting Technicians Ireland, which is Ireland's leading professional body for Accounting Technicians, has announced that there are 160 places available for those wishing to pursue the Accounting Technician Apprenticeship. This "earn and learn" programme will enable apprentices to work with a local employer and study in a registered training institution, with the tuition fully funded by SOLAS.

This "earn and learn" programme is a fantastic way of gaining experience in the accountancy field while simlutaneously earning a QQI Level 6 qualification. The programme will allow apprentices to progress to a full qualification in accountancy. To see the occupational profile of an Accounting Technician from apprenticeship.ie, click HERE.

The entry requirements for the apprenticeship programme are as follows:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age prior to the commencement of the programme.
  • For Leaving Certificate students 2017 and 2018, you will need 310 CAO points and at least an O5 grade in English and Maths or Accountancy.
  • For those who sat the Leaving Cert in the previous three years, you will need 300 CAO points and a D3 in Ordinary Level English and Maths or Accountancy.
  • Mature learners (23 years and above) are also eligible to apply.
  • Previous qualification holders (NFQ Level 5 or above in a non-accounting discipline) are also eligible to apply.
  • Individual employers have the discretion to enhance the entrance criteria beyond the minimum academic standards.
  • A person from outside the EU is eligible to apply for the programme if he/she has a Stamp 4 Visa except in the case of Revenue Commissioners where only EU citizens can apply. Evidence of this is required at application.
  • In the absence of a pass in Leaving Certificate English, the applicant must show evidence of competency in the English language at telephone interview stage.

Beyond the apprenticeship programme, there are also a number of other ways to qualify as an Accounting Technician. Accounting Technicians Ireland will be holding a series of Information Days for those who wish to learn more about the Accounting Technician Diploma Qualification. The Information Days will be taking place between 12pm and 7pm on the following dates:
