What are your interests?

Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

I Wish and DCU launch STEM initiatives

They aim to help students make informed choices when it comes to third level education.

I Wish and DCU launch STEM initiatives
Two STEM initiatives were launched last week in Ireland, highlighting the country's growing commitment to increase numbers of new students entering careers in Science and Technology.

The first initiative is DCU’s ‘A World of Opportunities’; a STEM careers guide for parents, teachers and students.

Dublin City University's essential new guide aims to showcase the varied and exciting range of STEM careers now available.

‘A World of Opportunities’ highlights the varying pathways to a successful career in STEM and will ultimately help students to make informed choices when it comes to third level education.

The day also saw the launch of the fifth annual I Wish showcases, which take place over four days in Dublin and Cork next February.

I Wish is an initiative to inspire, encourage and motivate young female students to pursue careers in STEM. The showcase will reach thousands of girls from across Ireland at events in Dublin and Cork in 2019. Eleven thousand Transition Year girls have already experienced the I Wish showcase. This year, another six thousand will be introduced to the vast number of opportunities STEM has to offer.
