Realist

Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

Logistics Associate Apprenticeship a success

The apprenticeship, offered by TU Dublin, currently has 17 associated companies in the industry

Logistics Associate Apprenticeship a success
The Logistics Associate Apprenticeship is going from strength to strength, with 17 associated companies employing apprentices and 36 apprentices committed to the programme. The new ‘earn as you learn apprenticeship’ covers various employment disciplines within the freight distribution and logistics sectors.

The Logistics Associate Apprenticeship is a Level 6 Higher Certificate in Logistics and is the first non-craft apprenticeship to be offered by Technological University (TU) Dublin and the first industry-led programmes to be delivered by TU Dublin School of Management.

Apprentices are assigned a workplace Mentor who guides and trains the Apprentice through their journey on this programme. Mentors are individuals with years of industry experience and are trained by TUD to carry out this role.

Their responsibility is to ensure that Apprentices hit their markers along the two-year journey and provide knowledge and insight where an Apprentice requires support. Over the two-year programme, students will develop the skills necessary for Logistics Associates, who are responsible for coordinating the movement of goods in a company, including the planning and coordinating of all warehousing and transportation activities in the supply chain.

Upon completion, apprentices are qualified to work as a logistician, freight forwarder, warehouse manager, shipping agent or process engineer to name but a few.

Minimum entry requirements are a Grade H7/O6 or above in five leaving certificate (or equivalent) subjects.

For more information on the apprenticeship please contact Anna Gorecka on 01 8447516 or email agorecka@laa.ie or visit www.laa.ie
