Applications for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Apprenticeship Now Open

Atlantic Aviation Group is accepting applications for its Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Apprenticeship

Applications for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Apprenticeship Now Open

Atlantic Aviation Group (AAG) has just opened applications for its Aircraft Maintenance Engineering apprenticeship. Aircraft Maintenance Engineers work across the aviation industry and are responsible for a wide range of aircraft. Typical tasks involve inspecting, maintaining, modifying and repairing air frames, engines and avionics.

The programme is designed to introduce apprentices to the key areas of aircraft maintenance. The apprenticeship provides a foundation in engineering and also covers introductions to avionics, aircraft structures, jet engines and systems. Upon successful completion of the programme, apprentices will be awarded the National Craft Certificate (Level 6) by Quality Qualifications Ireland, and an Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence by the Irish Aviation Authority, which is recognised internationally.

The intensive programme consists of both technical and practical training and takes four years to complete. The technical, or off-the-job, training involves building up practical skills and approaching subjects such as Maths, Science and Drawing from a theoretical perspective. Assessment will include practical tests, multiple choice tests and course work assessments. This training will be located at SOLAS Training Centre Shannon and TU Dublin Bolton Street (or another centre approved by Atlantic Aviation Group).

Practical training will take place with AAG and will be assessed based on apprentices’ performance of specific tasks in accordance with pre-set standards.

The programme is paid and the apprenticeship's pay will be based on a percentage of a qualified tradesman's pay scale.

Entry requirements: Ideally, candidates should be over 17 years of age on April 1st. To be eligible for this programme applicants must have a minimum of a H5 or O4 in Leaving Certificate Mathematics and English. Further information regarding helpful subjects is detailed on AAG’s website.
