3 main things:

1. Be organised.

2. Try to keep a positive attitude.

3. Persevere. Working in a Design Evaluation role or indeed any electronic engineering role, requires problem-solving skills and half the battle with this is having a positive attitude. If you have a negative/pessimistic attitude, the battle to find a solution is lost before you even start. In debugging an issue, start with the basics and work from there. Like peeling an onion, gradually peel off the outter layers to reveal the inner core of the onion...as you work, you get more clues and develop a better understanding of the product/issue you are working on.

Creative people are drawn to careers and activities that enable them to take responsibility for the design, layout or sensory impact of something (visual, auditory etc). They may be drawn towards the traditional artistic pursuits such as painting, sculpture, singing, or music. Or they may show more interest in design, such as architecture, animation, or craft areas, such as pottery and ceramics.

Creative people use their personal understanding of people and the world they live in to guide their work. Creative people like to work in unstructured workplaces, enjoy taking risks and prefer a minimum of routine.

New Tech Apprenticeships commencing first quarter of 2018

FIT has announced a new tech apprenticeship initiative comprising of two technology apprenticeships at Level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) namely:

ICT Associate Professional Software Developer

Associate Professional Network Engineer

FIT Ltd. (Fast Track into Information Technology Limited) with the support of Accenture, SOLAS, Education and Training Boards and the Apprenticeship Council reveal that this is the first of its kind in Ireland and they hope to target of 1,000 participants a year by 2021.

The Tech Apprenticeship Structure will involve:

The first six months of the programme is intensive college-based learning where apprentices are equipped with the necessary technical acumen. The remaining 18 months are a combination of on-the-job experience with participating countries, supplemented with college-based instruction.

Participating companies pay candidates throughout the apprenticeship and facilitate the on-the-job learning, thereby enabling apprentices to generate added value through honing their knowledge, skills and competencies in real-time while contributing to product development, technological advancement and talent development.

On successful completion of the programme, qualified tech apprentices will typically progress into full-time positions within their sponsoring companies thereby enhancing the talent portfolio while increasing productivity and competitiveness in those enterprises.
