Creative people are drawn to careers and activities that enable them to take responsibility for the design, layout or sensory impact of something (visual, auditory etc). They may be drawn towards the traditional artistic pursuits such as painting, sculpture, singing, or music. Or they may show more interest in design, such as architecture, animation, or craft areas, such as pottery and ceramics.

Creative people use their personal understanding of people and the world they live in to guide their work. Creative people like to work in unstructured workplaces, enjoy taking risks and prefer a minimum of routine.

Not everyone gets into college through CAO - read Christina's story
Getting high Leaving Cert Results and that top CAO offer can feel like the most importat thing in the world.

However, media professional Chrsitina Prendergast shared her story with us, and detailed how she didn't get into college on her first try.

After achieving lower points in her Leaving Cert than she needed for her course, Christina didn't get offered her number one CAO choice. Rather than accept a course she didn't really want to do, she decided to apply for a PLC, which after one year would give her an opportunity to compete for a place on DCU's Communications Studies course.

She successfully earned a place in DCU, achieveing her goal through a different means than CAO.

Christina, now successfully working in copywriting in Finland, urges all students to not panic if they don't get what they want first time round.
