Linguistic

The Linguistic's interests are usually focused on ideas and information exchange. They tend to like reading a lot, and enjoy discussion about what has been said. Some will want to write about their own ideas and may follow a path towards journalism, story writing or editing. Others will develop skills in other languages, perhaps finding work as a translator or interpreter. Most Linguistic types will enjoy the opportunity to teach or instruct people in a topic they are interested in.

Applied Arts Ireland & Northern Ireland: Master Classes and Artist Talks

Junko Mori

“In Conversation with Junko Mori” is a lecture that is open to all and will take place Wednesday 9th October.Both talks will take place in the Downstairs Lecture Theatre, CCAD, Sharman Crawford St., Cork. Mori’s work consists of multiples of individually forged steel or other metals, and the subtle difference of each piece results from hand hammering.

  • 11 am – Presentation about Junko’s career by chronological events and series of work.
  • 2pm - Presentation exploring nature, museum artefacts and other influences on Mori’s work. 

Master Class with Junko Mori will take place on Tuesday 8th October: Workshops with students and makers (by invitation only). This workshop will include components making in copper including TIG demonstration. Participating in this workshop will be students selected from the CCAD, 2 external educational institutions and professional makers.

Sasha Wardell

A Master Class with Sasha Wardell will take place on Thursday  28th November at the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland's Ceramics Skills Course, at Island Mill, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny (Time :10am - 4pm). Sasha Wardell is known for her pioneering approach in moving forward the traditional process of bone china production. She will facilitate a master class comprising of a practical demonstration of working practice and an artists talk.
