The Work - Law Clerk

A lot of the work is administration orientated, filling out forms, drafting documents, etc., but Legal Executives also interview clients, advise them on the best course of action to take and may also attend court to assist Solicitors and Barristers with the presentation of their case. Some may specialise in such areas as conveyancing, litigation, probate family law, wills, criminal cases, civil disputes, company formation and debt recovery.

Qualities

Law Clerks/Legal Executives should be responsible and capable of working on several projects perhaps simultaneously. Physical and mental stamina are important as deadlines may be tight and the work pressurised.  
 
Legal Executives/Law Clerks must have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and should be able to relate to clients from all backgrounds. Confidence is desirable as you have to be able to reassure people who are anxious. You also need to be able to pay attention to detail.
