Realist

Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

At Dunboyne College of Further Education we provide a range of accredited courses. Whether you want to be a nurse, teacher, scientist, sports coach, web designer, accountant, sound engineer, artist etc. we have a course that will start you on your way. We offer practical training, giving you useful, adaptable skills.

We are a rapidly expanding college ideally located to serve the Meath, Dublin and Kildare and wider areas in close proximity to two national universities and an institute of technology.

We have close links with all three institutions and many of our students progress to certificate and degree courses on their third level programmes. We continue to develop close links with many other Irish colleges and universities. Excellent results achieved by learners.

Over 90% of those who achieve a full award with us get offers and progress to third level. Our courses are constantly being revised to ensure that they meet the needs of students in terms of personal development and job opportunities.

We have a dedicated staff who are highly qualified in their fields, concerned for learner welfare and interested in seeing students progress. Courses are designed to enhance your career prospects, with strong links to local business/industry/commerce. Progression opportunities to a wide variety of third level courses at institutions across the country through the Higher Education Links Scheme.

We have links with partner colleges in the UK which give learners opportunities to complete their degree in nursing, law, sports science and many other areas if a place cannot be accessed in Ireland. Learners of all ages catered for and our track record in supporting mature applicants with the transition involved in returning to study is very strong. Our college has a friendly atmosphere, with relatively small class groups providing a unique learning experience.

Guidance Counselling service is available to support you in your learning and future career choices or progression to further studies. We have a full disability and access service. Students can apply for Maintenance Grants and anyone in receipt of social welfare payments can avail of financial assistance through the VTOS or Return to Education programmes.

Most of all our Quality Assured courses lead to nationally and internationally recognised certification.

Courses progress personal development, job opportunities and enhanced career prospects;We have a dedicated staff who are highly qualified in their fields, concerned for learner welfare, and interested in seeing their learners progress.

 

Our student’s achieve excellent results and usually progress to certificate and degree courses. Over 90% that achieve a full award get third level offers  (If you complete at least 8 modules and pass your core modules you have an excellent chance of progressing to third level) In some areas like childcare, community care, culinary, tourism, beauty and level 6 students go directly into the work place. Some students go to UK i.e. Nursing and Law.

All Courses are one year and are QQI level 5 or level 6; (Some night classes also available) All courses have links to third level Certificate and Degree programmes;  Excellent employment opportunities exist in these areas of study; There are a wide variety of career options on completion.

There is a bus service available from all areas, or one will be organised. We have a full range of students’ supports and activities that are detailed below.
