Diverse Courses
We offer a variety of fully certified and quality assured programmes (QQI) at Level 5 and 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications. We also offer VTOS QQI courses at Level 3 and 4 as well as Leaving Certificate. All our courses are developed each year to meet the needs of industry and higher education links.
Progression Opportunities
Participating in a course in North Kerry College is often the first step for students on their career path. Learner grades and progression to employment and higher education are consistently high in North Kerry College. We have developed progression links with many third level education programmes such as in the Institute of Technology Tralee, University College Cork and Mary Immaculate College Limerick.
Support Services
North Kerry College is committed to providing the best possible learning environment for all our students. We have an Open Learning Centre which provides support to all our students. Many learners returning to education as adults experience stress and anxiety when confronted with academic tasks and assessments.
The Open Learning Centre seeks to address these difficulties through supporting the learners to achieve their full potential and successfully complete their programme of study. We also provide a Guidance Counsellor who helps students deal with career decisions or have a chat about a concern. Our Guidance Counsellor also helps students complete their CAO/UCAS forms when applying for third level programmes.
Work Experience
Work Experience is a mandatory element of each course. This module includes CV preparation, job finding skills, preparation in applying for a job and interview skills. Work Experience offers students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and develop their skills in a real work environment. Many of ours students have succeeded in gaining employment in their work experience placement on completion of their course.
Our Students
North Kerry College is committed to creating an environment where the individual needs of each student are catered to. We also offer Study Skills Programmes to learners who are returning to full-time education. Our college day starts at 9.15 AM which suits students with families or other commitments. Parents who attend the College and who require child minding facilities are catered for by Listowel Family Resource Centre and other facilities through the provision of reserved child minding places. Social Activities such as field trips and social functions are seen as an important aspect of education and are organised throughout the school year. The atmosphere in the College is based on partnership and respect between students and teachers and has regard to the different circumstances, interest and background of each individual. Many of our students inform us that they choose North Kerry College because of the positive experience our graduates had studying with us. Our graduates continually promote and encourage others to enrol in North Kerry College.
