Realist?

Realist

Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

Welcome to Ormonde College of Further Education.

Located at the heart of medieval Kilkenny, Ormonde CFE offers courses in a range of disciplines. Our courses are fully accredited by internationally recognised awarding bodies and can lead to employment opportunities directly or provide an access pathway to further study in a wide variety of third level institutions. 

Whether you are a school leaver contemplating the start of your career path or an adult wishing to return to education, Ormonde CFE may have the course that suits your academic and vocational aspirations.

Why us?

Ormonde College of Further Education is centrally located in the heart of Kilkenny city and accessed by regional and provincial buses. The main building and campus of the college occupies a site of notable historical significance.

We offer a diverse range of fully certified and quality assured programmes at Level 5 and 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications.

Learner grades and progression to employment and higher education are consistently high. The college has developed agreements with a number of Institutes of Technology in order to secure progression for OCFE students into third level education programmes. 

Work experience is a mandatory element of each course whereby students are afforded the opportunity to develop vocational skills in a real work environment. 

We aim to ensure that the ‘student voice’ is at the centre of all we do. The mission statement of the college purports to provide opportunities for staff and students to develop their unique potential. The college strives to maintain a respectful, welcoming and safe environment that facilitates development and learning.
