Naturalist

Not surprisingly, some aspect of the natural sciences will run through the Naturalist's interests - from ecological awareness to nutrition and health. People with an interest in horticulture, land usage and farming (including fish) are Naturalists.

Some Naturalists focus on animals rather than plants, and may enjoy working with, training, caring for, or simply herding them. Other Naturalists will prefer working with the end result of nature's produce - the food produced from plants and animals. Naturalists like solving problems with solutions that show some sensitivity to the environmental impact of what they do. They like to see practical results and prefer action to talking and discussing.

Why us?

Our graduate employment rate is consistently higher than the national average. With a UL degree, you’ll be amongst the most employable graduates in Ireland. Our leading position in graduate employability makes UL degree holders especially attractive to employers. Our graduates are highly skilled and have claimed titles such as ‘Journalist of the Year’ and ‘Graduate Employee of the Year’.

With world-class facilities on a unique campus, there are so many reasons to love life at UL! The UL Experience is more than just a university degree - remember there's life outside of the lecture theatre. With almost 90 clubs and societies offering over 150 different activities, there are sure to be one or two that are just right for you.

As well as being the largest international exchange programme in Ireland (ERASMUS and Study Abroad), UL was awarded best Erasmus program at the Education Awards 2019. The University of Limerick has participated in the ERASMUS programme since 1988 and has links with over 300 partner institutions throughout Europe, offering a wide range of possibilities.

UL has the largest outgoing cohort in Ireland with approx. 500 UL students studying abroad at European partner institutions each year. The semester abroad is approved and academically recognised as part of the student's degree programme at UL.

UL has non-EU exchange partnerships with approximately 90 universities worldwide. Students may apply for an academic placement in any of these institutions instead of an Erasmus placement in an EU university.

Sport is synonymous with the very fabric of Limerick. UL is home to Munster Rugby. Our multi-purpose University Arena boasts a top class indoor facility, a 50-metre pool and a separate diving pool. There are over 60 acres of outdoor pitches, with hurling walls and 8 all-weather 3/4G synthetic pitches. A University of 'Firsts', UL prides itself on being ahead of many of Ireland's third level institutions in providing unique education and training facilities for all our students.
