What are your interests?



Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

About Us

Killester College of Further Education, Dublin 5 is a centre of learning committed to providing education and training of the highest quality. As a College of the City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB), we continue to strive to excel in responding to the educational needs of the community. The programmes we offer are learner-centred and provided in a friendly, inclusive and supportive environment. In fact we won a Award for Excellence through Accessibility in 2011.

All our courses range from QQI(FETAC) levels 4, to levels 5 and 6. They are accredited by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) They are qualifications in themselves but can also be used to progress onto Third Level. We welcome all ages from school leavers to Mature students.

We are situated 5 minutes from Killester Dart Station which is two stops from Connolly Station.

PLC Grants; Back to Education Allowances; Vocational Training and Opportunities scheme (VTOS) are available.

If you are an early school leaver, unemployed, wanting to upskill, seeking to go on to Third level-we offer you a platform.

Why us?

Leaving Cert points are not required. However, your ability to successfully participate in the course will be gauged by your educational history, your interview, your personal statement, your references etc.

There are no fees for tuition. However, charges exist to cover the costs of the following items: books, some equipment, student services, examination fees and registration charges by professional bodies.

There is a full time Careers Guidance Counselling Service in the College, managed by Joan Donelan (M.A.H.Dip Ed.,H.Dip in Guidance Counselling.) Students can avail of one-to-one guidance counselling, interview preparation, college application preparation, Career Interest Inventories & Computer Aided Guidance and Careers Counselling. The Counselling Service covers both personal and academic.

A bright, cheerful café is located in the College, where soup, sandwiches, paninis and other hot snacks are available.  The canteen also stocks a selection of scones, biscuits and other confectionery as well as delicious freshly brewed tea and coffee.  The perfect place to relax and enjoy a snack!
