Naturalist

Not surprisingly, some aspect of the natural sciences will run through the Naturalist's interests - from ecological awareness to nutrition and health. People with an interest in horticulture, land usage and farming (including fish) are Naturalists.

Some Naturalists focus on animals rather than plants, and may enjoy working with, training, caring for, or simply herding them. Other Naturalists will prefer working with the end result of nature's produce - the food produced from plants and animals. Naturalists like solving problems with solutions that show some sensitivity to the environmental impact of what they do. They like to see practical results and prefer action to talking and discussing.

Why us?

We are one of Ireland’s top universities for graduate employability, with 98% of our graduates working or in further study within six months of graduating.

Uniquely located in a beautiful historic campus in the west coast of Ireland, on the edge of the Wild Atlantic Way coastline and only 2 hours drive from Dublin. Galway casually combines the energy of a young and diverse population, with the authenticity of a place steeped in history and tradition. We are renowned as a place where arts and culture are celebrated, reinterpreted and shared with the world.

NUI Galway is committed to community and the development of lasting relationships for a positive impact on peoples’ lives within society.  We believe that the best learning takes place when students have many opportunities to engage their learning in real world contexts. That's why we have created many pathways to apply knowledge in community through real learning in the curriculum, volunteering and researching real world problem projects.

Tá tiomantas ar leith ag OÉ Gaillimh don Ghaeilge. Tá ról tábhachtach againn go náisiúnta maidir le hoideachas ollscoile a chur ar fáil trí mheán na Gaeilge. I gcomhpháirt le gníomhaireachtaí Stáit, na meáin Ghaeilge agus comhlachtaí Gaeltachta, leanfaimid orainn ag freastal ar riachtanais oideachais, eacnamaíocha agus chultúir na bpobal Gaeilge - san Ollscoil, sa Ghaeltacht agus ar fud an domhain.

Ar phríomhchampas na hOllscoile i gcroílár chathair na Gaillimhe agus sna hionaid Ghaeltachta i nGaillimh agus Dún na nGall, cuireann Acadamh na hOllscolaíochta Gaeilge agus Roinn na Gaeilge le stádas agus le húsáid na Gaeilge trí fhreastal ar phobal teanga beoga na hOllscoile, idir mhic léinn agus chomhaltaí foirne.

As an institution of enterprise, research and learning, we foster strategic global engagement through partnerships, research networks, and other collaborative activities between NUI Galway and partners around the world. We recognise academic excellence whilst also operating in a business capacity to continuously develop the services it offers to students, staff, business and the local community.
