DIT is a very modern institution but with a fascinating history that dates back to 1887. Now, it ranks as one of the largest and most innovative institutions of higher education in Ireland, with more than 20,000 students enrolled on full and part-time programmes, from apprenticeship to post-doctoral research.
DIT is an exciting place to be a student. We are proud of our excellent reputation in the arts and media, business and finance, engineering and the sciences, architecture and planning, social sciences and law, tourism and food. Our programmes are career focused, combining academic excellence with practice-based learning. Our aim is to ensure that our students graduate successfully, prepared to play their part in society and capable of adapting to a changing international environment.
Academic achievement is important, but the whole student experience includes every aspect of life. While DIT is a large institution, our students work together in small teams and quickly get to know one another as well as the academic and support staff. Students are encouraged to become involved in some of the many societies and sports clubs on campus, to participate fully in campus life and to be open to getting to know new people and making good friends.
We look forward to welcoming you to DIT and becoming part of our community.
