Administrative people are interested in work that offers security and a sense of being part of a larger process. They may be at their most productive under supervisors who give clear guidelines and while performing routine tasks in a methodical and reliable way.

They tend to enjoy clerical and most forms of office work, where they perform essential administrative duties. They often form the backbone of large and small organisations alike. They may enjoy being in charge of office filing systems, and using computers and other office equipment to keep things running smoothly. They usually like routine work hours and prefer comfortable indoor workplaces.

LIT has also teamed up with Science Foundation Ireland to offer a free Computing Summer Camp from Tuesday 4th to Thursday 6th June 2019.  Aimed at second level senior cycle students, the purpose of camp is to give students an opportunity to explore career opportunities in the Information Technology sector.

During this 3 day event students will participate in a variety of practical, hands-on computing workshops, talks and demonstrations. If you are interested in learning more about Computer Science and the wide variety of career opportunities in the sector please join us.

Commenting on the event, Coordinator and LIT IT lecturer Natasha Kiely said  “The purpose of this innovative summer camp is to give students an opportunity to explore career opportunities in the Information Technology sector. Over the three days students will participate in a variety of practical, hands-on computing workshops, talks and demonstrations and gain more insight into the exciting careers that exist in the world of IT. These explore events will enable students to gain valuable insights into the IT careers and occupations available, providing hands on experience of tools, technologies and subjects, revealing the creative and innovative discipline that is Computer Science.”

“With the introduction of the short course in coding at Junior Cycle and and Leaving Certificate Computer Science Curriculum, it is vital that students make informed choices when selecting new subject areas at both second and third level. Explore activities such as this Summer Camp provides students with the opportunity to learn more about Computer Science, and expose the wealth of creative opportunities that exist within the technology sector, allowing students to consider future careers in creative and innovative disciplines never before explored,” added Ms Kiely.
