What are your interests?

Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

Leading IT (Level 5 and Level 6 Programmes) in the West.

Castlebar College of Further Education is strategically located in the heart of Castlebar and has been delivering innovative Post-Leaving Cert courses for twenty years.

It has forged a strategic position educationally too, in becoming the leading provider of emerging technology-based courses in the west of Ireland at QQI Level 5.

CCFE is keeping space with advancements in the technological world, and has moved swiftly to further enhance its role as an IT hub by offering Level 6 Computer Systems and Networks in September 2017. This new course is designed to equip graduates with cutting-edge knowledge and skills in the computer-based sector.

Level 5 Courses on offer include Software Development with Cloud Computing, which focusses on the single fastest-growing areas in this sector; and Computer Systems and Networks with Mobile Technologies, which combines computer hardware and networks with app development.

These courses are responding to the growing employment demand in the field of computer-based services and software development. In addition, they provide links to Third-Level courses in these areas. While vocational in nature, they are flexible in structure, providing the learner with the opportunities to progress their specialised skills.

CCFE enjoys excellent relations with local employers and all students undertake relevant work experience placement.
