What are your interests?

Not surprisingly, some aspect of the natural sciences will run through the Naturalist's interests - from ecological awareness to nutrition and health. People with an interest in horticulture, land usage and farming (including fish) are Naturalists.

Some Naturalists focus on animals rather than plants, and may enjoy working with, training, caring for, or simply herding them. Other Naturalists will prefer working with the end result of nature's produce - the food produced from plants and animals. Naturalists like solving problems with solutions that show some sensitivity to the environmental impact of what they do. They like to see practical results and prefer action to talking and discussing.

QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2019

Posted on September 21, 2018

For the second year in a row, University College Dublin is ranked number one in Ireland for graduate employability by QS World University Rankings, climbing one place from 75th to 74th in the world.#

ccording to QS, “UCD leads the national table by virtue of the work it has done to forge work-placement partnerships and researcher partnerships with employers” and also ranks number one in Ireland in terms of the preferred university from which to hire the best graduates.

These rankings are based on five criteria, including a large scale (42,000) employer reputation survey, a measure of partnerships with employers (including internships) and the number of employer-student connections on campus.

Commenting on the Graduate Employability Rankings, the President of UCD, Professor Andrew Deeks said:

“We invest considerable resources to ensure our educational curriculum includes transferable skills that our graduates take forward into their working careers.  Equally, I cannot overstate the enormous value for our students to be taught by academics with excellent research profiles.

In addition to education and research, industry collaboration and partnerships with employers are important factors in the measure of employability in these rankings and our performance in this metric is particularly strong.

Traditionally the degrees offering internships or placements were for subjects in STEM, agriculture and healthcare.  We have recently restructured our arts, humanities and social sciences degrees to extend this pathway into these subjects so that, where students wish, they can gain employment experience as part of their degree.”
