Realist

Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

Statistics on CAO offers 2017

DFEi students applied to the CAO in 2017. 216 were offered a level 8 course at 3rd level colleges. See full breakdown of what offers were accepted.

Analysis of CAO offers accepted by college

63% of students from DFEi accepted an offer from one of the "Big 5" in the Dublin region. (UCD, DCU, TCD, NUI Maynooth and IADT)

36% of students accepted an offer from the local colleges IADT and UCD

32% of students accepted an offer from an Institute of Technology. 

 

Analysis of CAO places accepted by course
  • 11% accepted Arts/Humanities
  • 18% accepted a business course from CAO
  • 7% accepted a Science course
  • 13% accepted media related courses
  • 12% accepted Computer Science courses
  • 20% accepted a veterinary nursing course
  • 20% accepted a healtcare related course. 
Analysis of the 75 who did not take up level 8 course offered 
  • 37% were offered a course in a private college. 
  • 35% were offered a course outside of Dublin
  • 28%. No obvious reason for not accepting their course.
