New Computing Programme Options

We are offering New Computing Programme Options which are open for CAO entry in 2016.

Computing with Data Analytics and Computing with French/German/ Spanish are joining the TA322 B. Sc. Honours in Computing programme as options in IT Tallaght’s Computing offerings.

All Computing streams now offer a six months work placement as a fundamental part of the offering.

1) Computing with Data Analytics

  • Big Data Algorithms, Visualisation and Analysis
  • Business Intelligence
  • Semantic Web 

 2) Computing with French/ German/ Spanish

  • Computing Core
  • Parallel Language Study
  • Semester/ Year Abroad in target language can include placement Computing with Language Specialists sought after by leading ICT employers in Ireland

These options are open for CAO entry in 2016.

Outcomes of Computing Department Greaduates

In 2015 95% of IT Tallaght Computing/IT Management level 8 graduates found employment as ICT specialists in industry with another 5% going on to further study. Top roles were Software Developer/ Engineer and Devops specialists with infrastructure, business intelligence, systems analysis, testing and support roles also featuring strongly.

Top employers were IBM, SAP, Ergo with Microsoft, PaddyPower, SAGE, Bearing Point, INTEL, Guidewire also featuring among the 50 Honours Degree level graduates. More than half the graduating class achieved starting salaries in excess of €35k with some receiving significantly higher compensation.

In Spring 2016 over 70 IT Tallaght third year students obtained internships into a wide range of roles including software development, business intelligence and general IT. As well as IT Tallaght’s top strategic partners, IBM, SAP, Version1 and Ergo other companies and organisations who featured strongly were Fidelity, Ericsson, OpenJaw, SAGE, Department of Social Protection, Telecity, Dell, Tallaght Hospital and South Dublin County Council.
