Realist

Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

Application Deadline extended for 1916 Bursary

Posted on April 8, 2019

Applications for the 1916 Bursaries for the 2019/2020 academic year are now available. 2019/2020 represents the third and final year of these Bursaries under the National Plan for Equity of Access to Higher Education 2015-2019.

The purpose of this funding is to encourage participation and success by students from sections of society that are significantly under-represented in higher education.

New entrants to higher education who are socio-economically disadvantaged, meet the income threshold, and represent one or more of the target groups are invited to apply.

200 Bursaries are available nationwide which have been divided amongst clusters of third level institutions.  GMIT is part of the BMW Cluster together with NUI Galway, Letterkenny Institute of Technology and Institute of Technology Sligo. GMIT has received an allocation of six bursaries.

The 1916 Bursary is worth €5,000 per academic year to each of the six recipients.
