Careers rarely develop the way we plan them. Our career path often takes many twists and turns, with particular events, choices and people influencing our direction.
We asked Mary Joyce from Department of Education and Skills to give some advice for people considering this job:
|Teaching as they say is a vocation, it is a job that requires patience and enthusiasm. If you are considering teaching you need to look beyond the holidays and think of the 9-4 Monday to Friday spent dealing with children or teenagers and the challenges which they might pose.
I would advise anyone thinking of teaching as a career to speak with Teachers and learn of their experiences, both positive and negative. I personally would encourage people to consider teaching as it is an extremely rewarding profession in terms of the interaction you get daily with young people and the colleagues you meet in the job.

Undergraduate awards typically reflect three to five years of study after secondary school and include Ordinary (Level 7) and Honours Bachelor Degrees and Higher Diplomas (Level 8's).
Undergraduate awards may be achieved directly or through a series of progression steps. Learners may choose to progress upwards from a Level 5 to a Level 6, Level 7 and finally a Level 8.
Undergraduate awards are awarded by the HETAC or Higher Education Institutes.
3rd level Graduates are qualified for a wide range of occupations, and their education prepares them for roles involving specific skills, and for coordinating, supervising, managing, or training others. Examples include accountants, sales managers, computer programmers, teachers, chemists, environmental engineers, criminal investigators, and financial analysts.
Practica based and people focused, this course develops a student's ability to commmunicate across a wide spectrum of digital media; employing audio, video and motion design in the creation of content, and principles of interactivity in the creation of digital experiences that engage the intended audience. Creativity, artistry, communication and innovation are at the heart of everything we do. The goal is to develop graduates whe can thnk imaginativeley and bring their ideas and the ideas of -others to life through a creative and artistic approach. whether your instincts lie in pre-production planning or post-production editing, games desidng or audio visual, this programme is for you.
