Communication and team skills are probably the most important aspect overlooked.

In energy management, it is not I that saves the energy, but often it is folks on the ground using the equipment.

It is the energy managers job to educate by communication, the importance of doing the right things, savings then come as a result.

Administrative people are interested in work that offers security and a sense of being part of a larger process. They may be at their best operating under supervisors who give clear guidelines, and performing routine tasks in a methodical and reliable way.

They tend to enjoy clerical and most forms of office work, where they perform essential administrative duties. They often form the backbone of large and small organisations alike. They may enjoy being in charge of office filing systems, and using computers and other office equipment to keep things running smoothly. They usually like routine work hours and prefer comfortable indoor workplaces.

Undergraduate awards typically reflect three to five years of study after secondary school and include Ordinary (Level 7) and Honours Bachelor Degrees and Higher Diplomas (Level 8's).

Undergraduate awards may be achieved directly or through a series of progression steps. Learners may choose to progress upwards from a Level 5 to a Level 6, Level 7 and finally a Level 8.

Undergraduate awards are awarded by the HETAC or Higher Education Institutes.

Career Opportunities
3rd level Graduates are qualified for a wide range of occupations, and their education prepares them for roles involving specific skills, and for coordinating, supervising, managing, or training others. Examples include accountants, sales managers, computer programmers, teachers, chemists, environmental engineers, criminal investigators, and financial analysts.

Delivered over 3 years, it combines a range of comprehensive theory and practical skills development. Each year consists of two 12-week terms. The course will commence in September and can be taken on a full time or part-time basis. The programme is taught using a combination of classroom based and blended learning techniques. This allows the learner to access classes in person or using on-line facilities. In certain modules attendance may be a requirement.

The programme is interactive and draws upon a mixture of academic and experiential learning approaches across the programme. For those undertaking the programme on a part-time basis, elements of some modules may be delivered through blended learning approaches. This means that students will engage with some learning through face to face sessions and additional learning will be facilitated through an on-line learning community. All students in years two and three must engage in simulated and real practice learning environments. This is considered essential in this domain of practice.

Graduates of the B.A. in Counselling Skills & Psychotherapy Studies can be found working in a wide variety of organisations areas such as private and public residential and non-residential addiction treatment centres, schools, colleges, youth services, prison services, hospitals and of course, in private practice.

Opportunities also exist working with many disparate groups, including but not limited to young people, women at risk of domestic violence, the elderly and those with mental health issues.

The Government has committed to increased funding of mental health initiatives as part of the national counselling service.For many the opportunity to work in private practice as a professional Counsellor is hugely important. With the forthcoming statutory regulation of counselling and psychotherapy, the fact that this programme has been validated by QQI should not be underestimated.
