Enterprising 
Enterprising people like situations that involve using resources for personal or corporate economic gain. Such people may have an opportunistic frame of mind, and like commerce, trade and making deals. Some are drawn to sales and marketing occupations. Many will eventually end up owning their own business, or managing a section in larger organisations. They tend to be very goal-oriented, and work best when focused on a target. Some have an entrepreneurial inclination.

In this degree programme students study a range of business and accounting topics with a strong emphasis on accounting.

Students in each year choose some business and management modules, providing them with an understanding of the foundations and functional aspects of business (e.g. management, marketing, management information systems) and in the third year students can choose modules on law, in addition to optional modules in accounting and finance.

Students have the option of extending this degree to four years by taking a paid work placement in the third year and completing the taught course in the fourth year.

Graduates find careers in professional accountancy in both the public and private sector and in industry, working as accountants, finance directors, management consultants, liquidators, stockbrokers and tax consultants.


Successful graduates can avail of exemptions from CAP 1 examinations from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and equivalent examination papers from the ACCA, CIMA and CPA professional accounting bodies.
