They tend to enjoy clerical and most forms of office work, where they perform essential administrative duties. They often form the backbone of large and small organisations alike. They may enjoy being in charge of office filing systems, and using computers and other office equipment to keep things running smoothly. They usually like routine work hours and prefer comfortable indoor workplaces.

​This programme prepares students to work in the environmental management sector.

During the programme, students develop a scientific understanding of how the earth’s natural systems work. This knowledge is then applied to managing natural and human environments. New approaches to balancing the needs of society and the economy with protection of the environment are investigated.

The programme includes a significant amount of practical lab work, field work, field trips and computer-based Geographic Information Systems (GIS) sessions. Subjects on professional development are also included. There is also a work placement during the summer of third year.

Students will have the opportunity to explore the linkage between the science and the management of the environment. Students will develop a scientific knowledge of the earth’s natural systems. New approaches to balancing the needs of the environment, economy and society in moving towards long term sustainability are a key focus for the course.
There is lots of practical lab work, field work, field trips and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) sessions. Subjects on professional development are also included – soft skills that are much sought after by employers.
