Realist

Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

Course Summary

This is a portfolio preparation and general art course for students who wish to gain entry to a third level Art College in Ireland, the U.K. or abroad. The emphasis will be placed on the preparation of a balanced portfolio as well as developing skills in the art, craft and design areas. The portfolio, showing the student's individual sense of design and pattern, can use a wide variety of the modules covered on the course as well as the student's own interpretation of colour and design. Depending on the combination of modules a student can achieve a qualification in Art or Art, Craft and Design.
