Careers rarely develop the way we plan them. Our career path often takes many twists and turns, with particular events, choices and people influencing our direction.
We asked Nicola O'Higgins from Bord Iascaigh Mhara to give some advice for people considering this job:
|You need to work with people in the industry as knowledge is everything - where to buy, who from, when etc. Health and safety courses and a pleasant manner and drive are also important.|

Undergraduate awards typically reflect three to five years of study after secondary school and include Ordinary (Level 7) and Honours Bachelor Degrees and Higher Diplomas (Level 8's).
Undergraduate awards may be achieved directly or through a series of progression steps. Learners may choose to progress upwards from a Level 5 to a Level 6, Level 7 and finally a Level 8.
Undergraduate awards are awarded by the QQI, HEA or Higher Education Institutes.
3rd level Graduates are qualified for a wide range of occupations, and their education prepares them for roles involving specific skills, and for coordinating, supervising, managing, or training others. Examples include accountants, sales managers, computer programmers, teachers, chemists, environmental engineers, criminal investigators, and financial analysts.
Also available in degree stream MH101 MTP - Mathematical Physics: specialise in Mathematical Physics from second year.
The study of mathematical physics covers the entire physical world, from the microscopic quantum realm to the astrophysics of the universe. Understanding the universe means studying our past – where our planet came from, the origins of life – and preparing for the future through unveiling new laws of nature that could be the basis of future technologies and technological advancement.
You will learn how to analyse and explain complex issues, to identify problems, work out solutions and to enter into the unknown with an open, critical inquiring mind. As well as being introduced to the major ideas and developments in theoretical physics and applied mathematics, you will be equipped with the tools to meet current and future developments in science, engineering, finance and other technologies of the future.
