Students study Media Studies and one other subject from: English, International Languages (French, German, Spanish) or Politics
This joint honours degree will give students new critical perspective on areas central to contemporary society.
Each subject area provides students with an opportunity to gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of a particular academic discipline while also providing a solid foundation for further study.
Chosen subjects will be studied through seminars, lectures, workshops and tutorials and some on-line learning giving students the opportunity to get to know fellow students.

The Student - Career Interests
This course is typically suited for people with the following Career Interests. If these interests do not describe you, this course may prepare you for work you may not find satisfying.
The Linguistic's interests are usually focused on ideas and information exchange. They tend to like reading a lot, and enjoy discussion about what has been said. Some will want to write about their own ideas and may follow a path towards journalism, story writing or editing. Others will develop skills in other languages, perhaps finding work as a translator or interpreter. Most Linguistic types will enjoy the opportunity to teach or instruct people in a topic they are interested in.
Many subject options offer the opportunity to avail of a year long study period abroad.
Graduates enter careers in post primary teaching, translation, postgraduate studies, multinational corporations and international organisations including the EU.
