Realist?
Realist
Realists are usually interested in 'things' - such as buildings, mechanics, equipment, tools, electronics etc. Their primary focus is dealing with these - as in building, fixing, operating or designing them. Involvement in these areas leads to high manual skills, or a fine aptitude for practical design - as found in the various forms of engineering.

Realists like to find practical solutions to problems using tools, technology and skilled work. Realists usually prefer to be active in their work environment, often do most of their work alone, and enjoy taking decisive action with a minimum amount of discussion and paperwork.

This course offers FETAC Level 5 certification which is a qualification in its own right, or can provide a pathway to a Level 6 qualification here at Moate Business College or Level 7 or 8 in the Institutes of Technology. It is ideal for those considering further study in computer science and software engineering or simply learning the basics in computer applications

COMPUTER STUDIES (Information Processing) (5M2067)

This full time course provides an intensive programme of education and computer training as preparation for computer related careers in a commercial environment. The course provides a solid foundation in computer studies and equips students with knowledge and expertise in a wide range of Computer Applications. Considerable emphasis is placed on practical work, which reflects current practice in industry and commerce. The course organisation provides for related work experience.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES This course provides the basis from which a student may further his/her studies or find employment as an Information Technology Assistant in the commercial area.

There is a wide range of opportunities in the I.T. sector including: Technical Support, Web/Internet Support,  Computer Operations, Administration, Sales, Banks, Building Societies, Health Boards and Civil Service Local Authority Offices

As more and more people are aiming to get back into the workforce, mature students are invited to apply to any of  the courses on offer at the college.  To encourage participation by mature students, each applicant is assessed solely on the basis of an interview.  People who have been unemployed may avail of the Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) and Back to Education Initiatives (BTEI), and study at MBC without losing social welfare benefits.
