This course is designed for students with an interest in all aspects of creative writing. Students will read a wide range of literature appropriate to all modules on offer and there are numerous opportunities to attend theatre productions, films, media events and other cultural events throughout the year. This course provides an extensive introduction to a wide range of creative writing, media, literature and culture. Participants will produce writing for fiction, for scripts (theatre, television, radio, film) and for journalism. They will examine characterisation, structure, plot, setting, language as well as develop skills in editing and presentation. They will develop skills of analysis in response to media, literature, and cultural issues, as well as learning practical skills of desktop publishing and word processing.
