What are your interests?

The Social person's interests focus on interacting with the people in their environment. In all cases, the Social person enjoys the personal contact with other people in preference to the impersonal dealings with things, data and ideas found in other groups.

Many will seek out positions where there is direct contact with the public in some advisory role, whether a receptionist or a counsellor. Social people are motivated by an interest in different types of people and like diversity in their work environments. Many are drawn towards careers in the caring professions and social welfare area, whilst others prefer teaching and other 'informing' roles.

Adult Guidance

There are two key areas of the CareersPortal site that can support your adult guidance practice with individuals and groups.

The Adult Learner area provides information for you to assist individuals who are thinking of returning to learning or upskilling by helping them understand the different course options, their levels, entry as mature students and progression from Further Education to Higher Education. Information on upskilling courses for jobseekers, student finance including available funding is included. Understanding how qualifications from abroad compare to Ireland is available in International Comparisions.

This area contains a number of resources and tools to help people along their journey to new employment. Clients seeking employment will find many of the resources here to be of value.

The jobseeker area is designed to bring together in one place, all of the available and relevant sources of information and supports specific to job seekers, in an easy to navigate menu system.

Jobseekers can be shown how to use these tools to inform their job research. The section additionally allows them to explore current job vacancies and to access daily live career news updates.

The jobseeker section is interconnected across up skilling, retraining, volunteering and return to learning opportunities, alongside a comprehensive occupations database and informative jobholder interviews.
