Naturalist?

Naturalist

Not surprisingly, some aspect of the natural sciences will run through the Naturalists interests - from ecological awareness to nutrition and health. People with an interest in horticulture, land usage and farming (including fish) are Naturalists.

Some Naturalists focus on animals rather than plants, and may enjoy working with, training, caring for, or simply herding them. Other Naturalists will prefer working with the end result of nature's produce - the food produced from plants and animals. Naturalists like solving problems with solutions that show some sensitivity to the environmental impact of what they do. They like to see practical results, and prefer action to talking and discussing.

These subjects are 'hands-on' and involve working with tools and machinery on physical things like wood, metals and plastic. They may involve designing, planning and building things.

Brief Description:

In this new digital media literacy course you will learn to use digital technology for enquiry and research, to discriminate between the numerous sources of information and to participate safely and effectively in the online environment.


How will Digital Media Literacy [SC] be useful to me?

Creating and sharing media in a digital environment has become an increasingly important feature of how we communicate and engage with each other and with the wider world.

On this course you will explore the why and how of using digital technologies. You will investigate the ethical and legal issues around downloading media from the internet and develop an understanding of online safety.

As you develop your digital literacy skills, you will improve your capacity to know what information to ignore or discard, and how to identify what can be useful or significant.

You will learn to discriminate between the multiple sources of information available online and to challenge the views found there.

You will also learn how to create, collaborate and communicate effectively and to understand how and when digital technologies can best be used to support these processes.
