About

Humans and animals live their lives alongside each other. We are inseparable from each other and many jobs exist to care for our animal friends. Vets care for their health while groomers are animal beauticians. In the countryside, the National Parks & Wildlife Service cares for the environment of wild animals, especially endangered ones, while Gamekeepers maintain the numbers of animals used for hunting.

Labour Market Information

Currently, and for the foreseeable future, employment prospects for Veterinary Nurses are very good. Veterinary Assistants can also take advantage of the increasing employment opportunities in this field for veterinary technicians, animal lab technicians, and animal hospital assistants.

The practice of veterinary medicine is changing. In addition to applying new technology to the care of animals, Vets help to preserve endangered species, provide high standards of care for laboratory animals, and carry out high-quality research to solve problems of animal disease while contributing to the resolution of human health problems.

Pet owners are increasingly seeking non-traditional services, such as preventative treatments and dental care. Advances in the veterinary field now allow vets to offer procedures for pets that were previously only available to humans, such as hip replacement surgery.
