Temping

Temping

Sometimes both companies and workers want flexibility. In these cases temping presents a solution for both. Temping is temporary employment in an office that generally involves doing administration or reception work, but it can take in other areas such as sales, customer service or IT support.

Temps will often be attached to an agency which will send them opportunities with offices who need staff quickly. They will be based in the office for a short period of time, before moving on to the next office in need.

A need for temps can be created by sick leave, maternity or paternity leave and demanding projects. Temping suits people who are juggling work with other responsibilities, such as university, childcare or creative jobs like acting or music, but it can be a difficult way to make a living. You have no guaranteed income as you won’t be working every day or week.
