Sports Coaching & Business Management - GAA - CW807

Sports bodies require their management and coaching staff to have well-rounded understanding and knowledge of their chosen sport as well as in the area of business and management. A Sport and Exercise degree explores the cross-functional nature of business and sport and equips students with the necessary skills to attain careers in: sports management, club development, games development and club administration. Applicants can apply for both the BA (Honours) Sport Management and Coaching(CW858 - NFQ Level 8) and the BA Sport and Exercise GAA (CW807 – NFQ Level 7) on the CAO application.

Both programmes run concurrently for the first three years. This three-year degree programme is delivered by IT Carlow in association with Leinster GAA. The Sport & Exercise degree combines business and sports modules. Mandatory subjects over the life of the programme include: player development; coach education; anatomy and physiology; writing and research; sports management; finance; sponsorship and media management; performance management; nutrition; strategic management. Note: This is not a restricted entry course for CAO, but there is a portfolio requirement as part of the admission process.

Sports Coaching & Business Management - Rugby - CW817

Sports bodies require their management and coaching staff to have well-rounded understanding and knowledge of their chosen sport as well as in the area of business and management. A Sport and Exercise degree explores the cross-functional nature of business and sport and equips students with the necessary skills to attain careers in: sports management, club development, games development and club administration. Applicants can apply for both the BA (Honours) Sport Management and Coaching and the BA Sport and Exercise Rugby on the CAO application. Both programmes run concurrently for the first three years.

This three-year degree programme is delivered by IT Carlow in association with Leinster Rugby. It has been designed to provide a player-centred programme for the national domestic game of rugby, equipping graduates with the knowledge, understanding and competencies to pursue careers as players, coaches, managers and fitness instructors. The Sport & Exercise degree combines business and sports modules. Mandatory subjects over the life of the programme include: player development; coach education; anatomy and physiology; writing and research; sports management; finance; functional screening and fitness testing; strength and conditioning; sports marketing; coach education; programme planning and more. Note: This is not a restricted entry course for CAO, but there is a portfolio requirement as part of the admission process.

Sports Coaching & Business Management - Soccer - CW827

Sports bodies require their management and coaching staff to have well-rounded understanding and knowledge, about their chosen sport and in the area of business and management. A Sport and Exercise degree explores the cross-functional nature of business and sport and equips students with the necessary skills to attain careers in: sport management, club development, games development and club administration. Applicants can apply for both the BA (Honours) Sport Management and Coaching and the BA Sport & Exercise Soccer on the CAO application. Both programmes run concurrently for the first three years. This three-year degree programme is delivered by IT Carlow in association with the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).

Graduates will acquire an academic qualification while gaining the opportunity to develop as a footballer and to obtain coaching qualifications. The Sport & Exercise degree combines business and sports modules. Mandatory subjects over the life of the programme include: player development; coach education; anatomy and physiology; writing and research; sports management; finance; functional screening and fitness testing; strength and conditioning; sports marketing; coach education; programme planning and more. As part of the programme, students will gain coaching experience within various schools, clubs and FAI events. Note: This is not a restricted entry course for CAO, but there is a portfolio requirement as part of the admissions process.
