McDonald's is the largest chain of quick service restaurants in the world. Our vision is –“To be a modern and progressive burger company”. We operate 89 restaurants throughout Ireland. We serve 150,000 customers per day and directly employ over 4,800 people.
“We are not in the food industry, we are in the people industry and we just happen to sell hamburgers”…Ray Kroc- McDonald’s founder.
We have wonderfully talented people working at McDonald’s- people who have a real sense of pride in their work, whether it’s their first job, working while they study or those who seek a rewarding career with McDonald’s. At McDonald’s we respect and value our people and create opportunities for everyone.
We are committed to giving back to the communities in which we operate. The Ronald McDonald House charity is a demonstration of this; this charity provides families whose children are seriously ill in hospital with accommodation. There are many more examples of how we are committed to our communities and our environment.
We are continually investing in our restaurants and differentiating from our competitors- this is visible with the introduction of “Restaurant Experience of the Future” to several of our restaurants. This involves a transformation of our service platforms and kitchen to allow customers to customize their food orders. We have also introduced Kiosk ordering, digital menu boards and IPADS for our customers in many of our restaurants.
The development of our people and lifelong learning is at the foundation of all that we do. We believe people are our most valuable asset and by training and upskilling our people, in the areas of customer care, hospitality, leadership and teamwork, we provide them with the opportunity to develop key skills to build a career which can lead them to progress within McDonald's.
At McDonald's we provide opportunities for our crew to attain a Qualification with City and Guilds which are UK Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hospitality Services and UK Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Customer Service (equivalent to Irish NFQ Level 4). Managers also have the opportunity to attain a diploma or degree with the National College of Ireland.
